Simple Ways To Help In Deepening Your Voice

March 10th, 2010

Having a deep voice really helps, as I’ve experienced in school. It’s been useful to my classmates that I have a deep voice and they always want me to be in their group during group activities that involve reporting. The group that I joined would always get a high grade because one of the criteria for which our teacher gives credit is the clearness of the voice of the reporter.

Have you ever wondered why some people have that kind of voice and others don’t (and maybe that “others” includes you)? It’s because one’s voice is mostly acquired from one’s parents, which means a deep voice is innate. Not all of us are gifted by having a deep voice.

However, though these ideas may discourage those who don’t already have a deep voice, there’s still hope for them. Because, as the knowledge of man has risen, many mysteries have been revealed and questions have been answered. And luckily, one of the answered questions is this: What can I do to make my voice deeper? For sure, many people are seeking for the answer to this question.

And the answer to these questions is now very accessible through the Internet. This means that if we were just determined to pursue our objective of having a deep voice we would really achieve it. Though finding instructions and information about deepening your voice is very easy, in contrary, applying the searched information is the hard part of the quest.

As the saying goes, “If there’s a will there’s a way.” In your objective of deepening your voice there are lots of ways. Here are some of the ways to deepen the voice:

1. Do breathing exercises. Take slow, deep breaths filling up your lungs and forcing the diaphragm into action. Control the amount of air you exhale on each breath.

2. Try to always have good posture. Try standing at attention like they do in military boot camp… head up, chin in, knees loose, shoulders back, and muscles relaxed and not tense.

3. Exercise your mouth muscles by slowly naming the vowels, A-E-I-O-U. Exaggerate the movements so you’ll feel the muscles stretch.

4. Say some tongue twisters. You know, like, “she sells seashells by the seashore.” Start off at a slow pace and gradually build up speed as you go. This will help loosen up your tongue and relax your vocal chords.

5. Sing short one-syllable notes such as ‘ha’ and ‘ho’, repeatedly. Make sure the sound emanates from you diaphragm, way down low. Don’t force the breathing.

6. Try singing a single note and holding it for as long as possible in a single breath. Then, vary the pitch of the note, going up and down the scale. You’ll notice the higher notes require less breath and can be held longer.

7. Recite notes that focus on the vowel sounds like in the song Do, Re, Mi. This is a great song and kids love it. Maybe you can get the children involved and they can learn a little about music and the same time you’re working on deepening your voice.

These exercises will help your voice become more developed and more resonant. There are many other things you can do to deepen your voice. It’s easy to find, if you’re determined to do it.

5 Ways to Successfully Motivate Yourself

March 9th, 2010

Learning how to motivate yourself is an asset that will serve you well throughout every aspect of your life. It is unrealistic to depend upon others to supply you with the drive you will need to accomplish great things in your life. Self motivation is something that can be learned if you do not already have it and can also be reinforced if it tends to weaken. Having a lack of motivation is the single biggest reason why many do not achieve their goals resulting in a feeling of emptiness.

There does exist ways to ensure that you do not suffer the same fate many do when they fail to reach goals they have set for themselves.

Here are 5 simple techniques you can use to help maintain your self motivation so that you can consistently accomplish any objectives you set for yourself.

Remember Your Reasons

It is important to continually remind yourself as to why it is you are pursuing any particular goal or objective. This is especially true with goals that may take longer to achieve than others. It is normal to lose motivation after investing a lot of effort and not seeing the desired results. Reminding yourself of the benefits ‘reinvigorates’ your motivation so that you can continue to move closer to accomplishing your objectives.

Daily Inspiration

Periodic reinforcement of the success of others is an effective way to strengthen your own self motivation. Knowing that others have endured the same or similar challenges and succeeded is both inspirational and proof that it can be done.

Associate with Like Minded People

Surrounding yourself with like minded people or those who at least are supportive of your actions will help you to maintain your motivation. Having a source of support and encouragement can help you through times of frustration and can also offer insight that may be helpful.

Monitor Your Progress

Chart your progress and especially if you expect that your efforts will take a long time before you see any results. By doing this you can seek and find encouragement as you see progress being made. Nothing will zap your motivation quicker than realizing your efforts are getting you nowhere.

Learn from Set Backs

Expect setbacks and mistakes to occur so that when they do you can identify what went ‘wrong’ so that it does not happen again. Every mistake should teach you something of value if you are observant and this will make you better at what it is you are trying to accomplish. This feeling of ‘empowerment’ is a great source of confidence and self motivation.

When you learn how to motivate yourself you no longer fear those unexpected obstacles life often presents that may not allow you to reach goals you have set. Self motivation is a very empowering feeling since you do not have to rely upon others to maintain your ambition. Having the ability to call upon your own ‘inner means’ to either overcome a lack of motivation or to strengthen what you already have is a liberating sensation. The 5 techniques discussed above will help you maintain your self motivation for whatever reasons you may have. The end result will be more successes and less failures making for a happier and fuller life for you.

Finding Innovation Inspiration

March 8th, 2010

Let’s pause for a moment to celebrate three unique innovators who died this year: Curtis Allina, Art Clokey, and Walter Morrison.

What–you haven’t heard of them? I bet you know their creations well: Pez, Gumby, and Frisbee.

I dare you not to grin when saying those three words! Pez, Gumby, and Frisbee collectively represent fun, silliness, play, and many more happy emotions we want in our lives today.

When each of these gentlemen’s obituaries appeared within a month of each other, it made me pause. What lessons did their innovations teach? As I strive to be more creative and innovative, what inspiration can I take from their journeys? After exploring their lives and legacies further, here are the top three things I discovered:

1. Great Innovation Can Happen Even if Life’s Hard
You’d think that if you were a master of something as creative, as inventive, as FUN as any of these three playthings, that you probably lived a charmed life. But that was far from the truth:

• Clokey was sent to live in a children’s home when his mom’s new husband rejected him after his natural father died in a car accident.

• Allina’s family perished in concentration camps in the 40s, leaving him as the sole survivor.

• Morrison, a WWII pilot, was shot down and spent 48 days as a prisoner of war in Stalag 13.

Those setbacks didn’t get in their way–in fact, they may have led to even greater creativity and innovation. For example, Morrison’s aeronautic skills helped him refine his original flying disc. The abandoned Clokey was eventually adopted by a well-known composer who introduced him to an artistic life that certainly led him to pick up a handful of clay.

2. Accept Whatever Comes.
Gumby’s 1956 debut on “The Howdy Doody Show” led the stop-motion character to his own short-lived series and ongoing syndication. But his popularity faded in the 70’s, and creator Clokey struggled financially, according to published accounts.

Then a young comedian named Eddie Murphy played a foul-talking Gumby on Saturday Night Live in the 80’s. Many expected Clokey–the man who created TV’s religious-toned “Davey and Goliath” and who once planned to become an Episcopal priest–to be shocked and ashamed at how his creation was mangled.

But according to interviews, he loved it, although he was happy it was on late at night when children were sleeping (remember, this was the pre-TiVo era.) By accepting someone else’s interpretation and going with the affectionate outpouring, the edgy performance rejuvenated Gumby, and put the green guy in the hands of a whole new generation.

3. You Don’t Have to Create to be Creative
Pez was originally a Viennese mint, marketed to adults as an alternative to smoking. In fact, the stemmed dispenser was designed to look like a cigarette lighter. When the idea emerged to repackage the candy for children, company exec Allina had to persuade the conservative, European home office that the change would make sense.

Pez historian (now there’s a job!) David Welch told The New York Times that no one really knows exactly whose idea it was to put heads on Pez dispensers. However, Welch shared, “The idea came from the United States. And for the idea to have come out of the United States and made it to Austria where it could be approved, Allina was the only guy who could have made that happen.”

So whether Allina actually envisioned a Santa head on a stack of peppermints, we’ll never know. But he was the one to enable the creative move, to actually make it happen, and in the end, is credited with making the now multi-million dollar industry come to life. Not a bad legacy.

Speaking of legacy, it is worth noting one other thing these three men had in common. They all lived long lives: Pez’s Allina passed away at 87. Gumby animator Clokey died at 88; and Morrison, Frisbee’s father, died at 90. They left behind not only their respective innovations, but also buckets of inspiration for the creative spirit in all of us.

Where do you find your innovation inspiration–at work, outdoors, or at home in your garage? From music, TV, or a stroll through the mall? Who inspires you most–people you know well, or people you’ve only known from afar?

Key Essentials of Personality Development

March 3rd, 2010

Personality development is the development of organized behavioral pattern and characteristics to create a strong and positive image of self. The term ‘personality’ is itself a complete dictionary of various traits and characteristics. It has several hidden meanings and definitions that form the impression of an individual in the society or any specific group.

The development of personality starts immediately after birth. During the course of life various factors continuously keep influencing the formation and development of specific traits in an individual’s personality. Some of the most common factors are temperament, education, biological system, surrounding, environmental factors, family background, education, and the cultural beliefs. The ongoing interaction of these factors leads to the development of an individual’s personality.

Different individuals have different set of characteristics and temperament because they are all born under different set of environmental, biological, and physical factors. Every one is unique in its own way but the route to achieve a positive and realistic personality can be common. Within each one of us there are immense possibilities to develop our personality with strong character.

If you are one among those who wish to achieve milestones in life with a positive approach then you need to define, analyze, and develop your personality. There are many ways and methods for positive development of your personality.

You should be polite and sweet to all. Sweetness in your heart and in your words goes a long way in creating your image in people’s eyes. You should have a control over your words and language as it will further control your actions as well. Apart from that every word you speak should be from the depth of your word that delivers the complete truth. Don’t deceive anyone with lies, false promises, or any kind of fraud. Society gives respect to such a person as the sweetness in their words and actions as well as their honesty touch people’s heart. People form an impression that a specific person is a good person by heart and won’t ever hurt anyone by rude words or wrong deeds.

Furthermore, optimism is the key ingredient that strongly supports personality development. Life is not at all a bed of roses; it has thorns on its way. During the course of life every one has to pass through troubled times, challenges, and dark nights. On your way, you may stumble, may feel depressed and disheartened, and some times the storm of life may tear you apart but a positive attitude is one thing that will keep you going. So, you should always have a positive approach in life. There are people who are rich in talents, knowledge, and experience but sadly they fail to win success, they fail to win life. It’s not because they don’t work hard but because they have a narrow outlook in life that pushes them backwards.

Apart from these, you should also have a control over your emotions. Showing wrong emotions at the wrong time may hamper your image in the society and people may look down upon you. You should know which emotion to show at what time and furthermore, emotions like anger, jealousy, and hatred should be killed. You should also spare some time for socializing with people to listen to their worries and show concern. There are many helpless and homeless people in this world; they all just need one helping hand to rise up in life. Hold the hand of at least one among them and you’ll rise up in people’s eyes. Always keep in mind that by helping people you are not only making yourself rise in people’s eyes and hearts but also for improving your traits and temperament, creating a powerful personality of yourself that is powerful, impressive, and socially viable.

Personal success coach

March 3rd, 2010

A river needs two banks to flow. It flows in a particular direction taking a specific path, failing which men are put into trouble by the floods. Similarly , the energy of our lives needs some directions to flow. Life runs with commitments. Greater the commitment you take , greater power or energy you gain to fulfill that commitment. Hence the best coach you can get to train you is yourself is you.. for there is no one knowing more about you then your very self. Here are a few tips to coach yourself to get personal success..

• Nourish your emotion. A person without emotions is like a tree without leaves, lifeless. You need to make life interesting to make people be with you. This will happen when you nurture yourself with music, prayer or service.
• Plan short and long term goals. At any given point of time, our mind is oscillating between the past and the future. Either it is angry or sad about the past or anxious about the future, whatever action you do with this state of mind, you regret some time later. This is how you get caught in the same old cycle. Plan your time , plan your future, but just don’t stop with that. Be a doer not just a dreamer.
• Implement changes if needed. Life is a combination of both change and non-change. So, use your intelligence and courageously implement changes when you feel that there is a need for a change.
• Do not lose friends. Mistakes keep happening all the time. Often you may want to correct them. Do not tell the tell a person a mistake he knows he has committed. A magnanimous person will not pick out the mistakes of others and make them feel guilty , he will correct them with compassion and care.
• Let’s be predictable.
• Have a sense of humour.
• Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
• Overcome your prejudice.
• Feel that” I am blessed”
• Dream the impossible.
• Compare your performance, with yourself.
• Do random acts of kindness.

All these you do goes straight to drain if you don’t coach yourself to learn every day. Know that you are a student forever. Do not underestimate anyone. Rise above the muck of the problem and rest the multitude of possible solutions.

Top Ten Tips To Help You Develop And Maintain A Positive Mental Attitude

March 1st, 2010

Here are ten tips to help you maintain and develop a positive mental attitude.

1. Stay away from negative and pessimistic people.

2. Stop whining, complaining and blaming others for your mistakes, problems, misfortunes and setbacks. Only you are responsible for your actions and consequences, only you are responsible for your life and circumstances.

3. Be more in touch with your thoughts and feelings, do not get carried away by your worries. No matter what, make the conscious decision to start your day, everyday, in a positive and optimistic way.

4. Always work on maintaining a positive attitude about things. We all know that we can not always control what happens in our lives, but we can always control how we react to what happens in our lives. This will help you build the courage and motivation to change and find a solution to your problem.

5. Learn to adapt. Things change, circumstances change. Adjust yourself and your efforts to what it is presented to you so you can respond accordingly. Never see change as a threat, because it can be an opportunity to learn, to grow, evolve and become a better person. Many times what you see as the end could be the start of a new and better beginning.

6. Face your reality with courage. Take a good and careful look at your situation and allow yourself time to think. See where you are now and decide what you want and where you want to be. Build the enthusiasm, make up your mind and go for it. Realize that you have the ability and the potential to change things.

7. Concentrate on the beautiful things in your life. Always try to look for the good and positive in bad situations. Opportunities come in many shapes and forms; many times your setbacks or problems are opportunities in “disguise.”

8. Use your imagination and be creative so you can turn those opportunities into successes. Look for better or different ways to do things. Allow yourself to see beyond what others think is possible, wise or practical. Be proactive and be part of a solution, not part of a problem.

9. Be in charge of your life. Do not think and assume that what happens to you is your destiny. It is not! If you think that way you will give a message to your brain to stop looking for ideas or solutions to your problems. Do not make excuses to relieve yourself from your responsibilities. Always remember, if you do not control your future somebody else will, whether you like it or not.

10. Work on your attitude and learn to control it, always remember, if you are not careful your attitude will control you.

These tips are from Rodolfo Costa’s new inspirational book “Advice My Parents Gave Me and Other Lessons I Learned From My Mistakes” described on its front cover as “A collection of 409 thoughts, quotes, lessons, ideas, suggestions, reminders, and words of advice and encouragement to help you lead a more prosperous, rewarding, peaceful, happy, and fulfilling life.”

Overcoming Procrastination in 5 Simple Steps

March 1st, 2010

Overcoming procrastination can be one of the hardest things to do since the people who need to do this the most always delay in taking action. Procrastination is a serious example of an ‘epic’ lack of motivation which the longer it is allowed the more deeply rooted it becomes.

This ’social disease’ can be and is the ‘killer’ of many dreams and goals. The only and most logical cure to be found is learning to how to better motivate yourself to take the necessary actions.

Discovering how to stop procrastinating can be broken down into simply breaking old and often times psychologically based habits. Here is a simple 5 step plan to help you overcome your lack of motivation and take charge of your life once again.

Sort and Prioritize

One common reason for procrastination is due to the overwhelming feeling you can get from having too many things that need to be done. This feeling can severely hinder your ability to motivate yourself. The problem can be handled in a logical manner by sorting out your ‘to do’ list. By prioritizing them into a workable list according to their urgency, time deadlines or overall importance you now know where to start.

Simplify Tasks

Some ‘undertakings’ may be intimidating due to the enormity of the goal itself. Something like this typically involves many steps and/or tasks to be completed before the goal is reached therefore it is common for people to put it off. The best approach for this is to break this goal down into a series of steps and focus only on the immediate task at hand. The result will be since your focus is ONLY on the immediate task you are not allowing the size of the overall project to intimidate or overwhelm you.

Peak Performance Time

Everybody has got a particular time of the day or night that they find themselves the most productive. This may be due to your energy level or perhaps a there are less demands upon your time. It matters not what the reasons are just determine when it is the easiest time to motivate yourself and schedule time to complete some of those tasks you have been putting off.

A quick note here and something to be consider with any of these steps is perhaps only schedule a little at a time. As you begin to see results it will be easier for you to motivate yourself to tackling even larger tasks or goals. With results comes confidence and a surge of energy to accomplish even more.

Schedule the Time

We spoke of scheduling some tasks during your most productive hours and that should give you the added energy or ‘edge’ to make some progress. Well a ’spin’ on that would be to take a task and simply schedule it into your ‘work’ day for completion like any other item you may have scheduled for that day.

By incorporating it into the ‘routine’ of your day you are NOT allowing it to build up the psychological barrier that develops when it is repeatedly ‘put off’ till later. This barrier builds up a lack of motivation and a feeling of dread. By scheduling and completing it within the course of a busy day its seems easier since no barrier or dread has a chance to build.

Just Do It!

Sometimes it works best just to grab an assignment or unfinished task you are not too fond of and simply complete it without any prior ‘dread’ or anticipation. As I mentioned earlier our lack of motivation offer stems from a psychological barrier and it is normally one we create ourselves. The more we ‘dread’ something the more dreadful it actually becomes and this feeling is something we create.

Overcoming procrastination is simply a matter of breaking old habits and restoring your lack of motivation to accomplish even the smallest of tasks. Learning how to stop procrastinating draws parallels with learning how to motivate yourself since motivation is the root of the problem. The simple 5 step plan reviewed above targets restoring your drive. By ‘chipping away’ at these old habits new ones can then be developed. The results will allow you to once again become the ‘pilot’ of your life instead of simply a passenger along for the ride. This will now put the goals and dreams that have eluded you in the past back within your reach.
