Motivation – 5 simple ways to keep ourself motivated

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

There will always be times in our lives when we feel unmotivated, and this leads to our tasks not being done, as we do not have the “push” to complete it. As humans, we tend to procrastinate, leaving our tasks to be completed at a later time. We drag our feet when we walk when we are feeling down, feeling listless and thinking of negative thoughts. Thus, one of the ways we distract ourselves from such negativeness by using entertainments such as paying games, sports, music etc.

To understand the root cause of our unmotivation, we need to ask ourselves “Why?” Continuing to focus on the current dull task does not solve the problem. We need to look at the bigger picture and ask ourselves why are we bothered in the first place. Say if it is due to the death of a close friend or relative. If that is the cause of unmotivation, perhaps speaking to someone with a listing ear or seeking a counselor can set things right. However, if there is no answer to that question, then there’s a good chance we should not be bothered with it anyway.

The second tip as how to stay motivated is to move around. Get our bodies moving as if we were extremely motivated to do something. This ‘faking it’ approach to motivation may seem silly or crude, but it works. We may end up laughing at ourselves but this period of happiness will keep us moving.

Kick start your day by planning out. As the saying goes, failing to plan is planning to fail. We can get up early and prioritise all the important things to be done for the day. Breaking up a huge task into chunks makes the work more manageable. Also, by building momentum early in the day can usually carries us forward far later.

There is another saying that goes, “two heads are better than one.” Therefore, get a Partner. Find someone who will motivate us when we are feeling lazy. Having a friend can help motivate us to work hard when we will normally quit.

Develop a personal mantra can be the next step to motivate ourselves. Statements such as “Do it now!” can focus our minds and motivate us. Such statements can be taken from motivational posters, or just a few words to tell us what to do.

Manifest Desires – The Power of Positive Affirmations Creates a Better Life!

Monday, June 7th, 2010

As humans, we have many desires in life that we want to accomplish. One of the ways that can help us in reaching the goals that we have in life is through positive affirmations. We can make life easier by changing our outlook. Instead of the negative thoughts, we must change it to positive thoughts to manifest your desires. It is just a matter of perspective. If we go on and be negative about things in life, we will not attract the positive energy that will bring abundance in our lives.

Negative thoughts can get in the way of reaching our goals. We are limited by our negative attitudes. What we must learn to do is to trust ourselves that we can do a certain thing if we put our mind into it and we will manifest our desires.

Actions are a result of what we think. Thoughts play a vital role in our lives. If we really want to live our dreams, if we want to have happiness and be successful, we must examine our thoughts and dig deeper into our subconscious. This can be done through positive affirmations.

What are positive affirmations? These are actually short statements that stress the positive truth about the thing that you want to happen. Positive affirmations can quickly change the way you think and look at things; they become the foundation of your actions in manifesting desires and abundance.

Positive affirmations will change many aspects in your lives; they can also help in the developing of your self-confidence. Negative thoughts can greatly affect our confidence in ourselves that can lead to much insecurity in life. Positive affirmation can change the way we look at life.

By using positive affirmation in our daily life, we are able to build energy that will turn our life into a better one and manifest desires for our highest good. Start the day right by saying positive statements and focusing on the positive aspects in life. Think happy thoughts so that you have a better outlook in life. See the miracles occur.

And now if you are ready to manifest your desires, attract better relationships, more money and health, get my FREE audio lecture and meditation “Connecting to Your Higher Self” at http://www.SpiritualSelfMastery.com

The Key to Success is Knowing You Can

Monday, April 19th, 2010

The key to success in any endeavor starts with a positive mental attitude. There is a saying that goes ‘if you think you can you can and if you think you can not you are right’ and this is so true. Have you ever noticed that people with positive attitudes are always so upbeat and motivated? In fact it can be said that a positive mental attitude is the best motivation you can have since it is based upon believing in yourself. Whether it is business or personal your best chance to become successful at ANYTHING begins with a strong inner belief you will succeed.

Here are 10 quick tips you can IMMEDIATELY begin to use to develop a ’strong’ positive mental attitude. Caution: the use of these tips may very well have you smiling from ear to ear within the first week … proceed carefully!

1) Imagine the Possibilities

Focus your energies more on how you can become successful at a particular endeavor instead of convincing yourself it can not be done. How often have you avoided even TRYING to accomplish something because you talk yourself out of it? Even worse is letting others convince you that goals or objectives are out of your reach. Simply stated if it has been done by somebody else it stands to reason that it can also be done by you!

2) Listen to Your Self Talk

Talking to yourself does not mean you are crazy, in most cases anyway, and can actually be the source of some of the best motivation you may encounter. On the other hand however is that your own self-talk can just as easily sabotage your efforts or motivation. Learn to monitor the ‘reinforcements’ you tend to give to yourself and consciously AVOID any negativity. The repeated use of such innocent but negative reinforcement such as ’stupid’ or ‘idiot’ when describing your own behavior can easily lead you to ‘assume’ this self-talk is true.

3) Practice Affirmations

Replace any negative thoughts with more encouraging ones that will help you to develop a more positive mental attitude.

4) Appreciate What You Have

Learn to appreciate what it is you may already have and allow these feelings of thankfulness to help you develop a more positive mental attitude. All of us tend to take things for granted so much so we forget what we have.

5) Stop Being Envious

Instead of envy try admiring someone for what they have or what they have accomplished. This replaces the feeling of envy or yearning with a more positive flow of thought that opens the door for you to recognize that these same opportunities exist for you.

Envy can consume your energies and distract your focus from taking more proactive measures in your own life.

6) Find Inspiration from Others

Instead of yearning for what others may have find inspiration in the fact that if they can attain it so can you. As we mentioned above what one person can accomplish can also be accomplished by another. Realizing this is the best motivation you can have to help you take the necessary actions to realize any particular objective you may have chosen.

7) Avoid Negative People

Negative people will suck the motivation right out of you and replace it with their own miserable and negative thoughts. We all know negative people and although they are not necessarily bad people they generally inhibit you from making improvements in your own life. Accept their criticism with grace but do not hang on their every word or they will drain the life out of you.

8) Associate with Positive People

The people you want to be around are those who realize the vast potential of not only themselves but of you as well. Positives attitudes can be infectious and will only serve to further motivate you and increase your enjoyment of life itself.

9) View Failures as Lessons Learned

There are no failure only lessons that you must learn in order to become successful at whatever you are pursuing. Accepting setbacks in this way takes away the frustration and disappointment and replaces it with a renewed vigor and confidence.

With each ‘failure’ you are in fact one step closer to success!

10) Stop Complaining

Much like negative people draining your energy and disrupting your focus you too can accomplish the same by always complaining. Stop and consider for a moment what good comes out of complaining? Complaining is not productive nor does it move you closer to whatever it may be you seek but instead fills you with negative thoughts.

Positive attitudes are the key to success in just about anything you can imagine that is worth accomplishing in your life. To become successful at anything you MUST posses the proper motivation and a positive mental attitude is the best motivation you can possibly have. A person who has a strong belief in their own convictions and abilities can not be denied success. The 10 tips we reviewed above are meant to serve as a guide for building a healthier mindset that WILL have an immediate and positive impact on your life. Smile for you already possess what it takes to live the life you want. Start unleashing it today!

You Get What You Ask For

Friday, April 9th, 2010

In life we get what we ask for.

Now you surely say that it isn’t true. You say you ask for freedom and happiness and all you got was feeling imprisoned and bad.

Let’s have a closer look to how creation works and how our subconscious mind works. Because it’s the same.

Everything that exists is created in someone’s mind. Everything starts with a thought. A thought is an energy. Energy wants to manifest itself. A lot of thoughts in the same direction will, that’s for sure, manifest in the real world.

This is the process of creation.
We are created by the same process. We use this process of creation all the time,
without knowing it.

When we are not conscious, then we are like most people and use this power to create a negative life. We have negative thoughts and get negative results.
Once we learn how to think positive thoughts, we will get positive results in our life.

How come? Our subconscious mind is like the earth. It does not interfere with what we sow. Earth does not say :”Nja I have enough of these carottes, it’s every time the same thing, I will make potatoes of it!” Earth does not say : “Bah I don’t like red flowers, I will turn the red into blue for these roses!” Earth does not interfere. Earth is patient, works in silence and gives us exactly what we put in it. And we KNOW that! We know we will get exactly what we put in the earth. When we put yellow flowers in it, we don’t expect them to be red when they blossom. When we sow roses in the garden we don’t expect onions to come out in spring!

And yet that’s how we react in real life. We sow onions and expect roses. We sow negative thoughts in our mind (onions) and expect good things (roses) to come out! We fool ourselves! And we blame others. We look for who can possibly be the fault of that (usually we blame the parents or the husband/wife for what goes wrong in our life). And then we cry and say we don’t have any luck in our lives. We look at the neighbour and think he’s lucky because he has roses in his garden, and we wonder what we did to the world to deserve only onions in our garden!

When the mainstream of your thoughts is negative, let’s say for 85 %, than the outcome will be negative for 85%. Your thoughts fall into your subconscious mind, which executes exactly what you put in it. It is like the earth. It is like a computer. When you type in your computer : “I am stupid, I am fat, I am ugly, nobody loves me”, are you angry with your printer when the paper comes out that says “I am stupid, I am fat, I am ugly, nobody loves me”? Do you throw a shoe at your computer and do you yell at him that he is the fault of everything that’s going wrong? No, because you know you put that information in it and your computer does not interfere. The output matches exactly the input.

So works our subconscious mind. If you don’t like the output, change the input. You get exactly what you ask for = what you think of the whole day. Don’t be angry with your life. You are not angry with the onions, are you? You are not angry with your computer, are you? Instead of being angry, learn how it works and learn to get positive results in your life. Start thinking positive thoughts. Think only thoughts you wish to see happen in real life. Think only what you want to become true. And wait for a while, be patient. One day you will harvest what you sew, like you know earth will give you back what you put in it. It is never lost. Just wait and see.

How to Commit to Yourself

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Commitment—it’s a word that symbolizes something very important to some, and yet is a word denoting fear for many others. When you commit to another person you give your heart, body and soul to them. However, as vivid a thing as commitment in relationships can be, when it comes to making commitment to one’s self, there is always hesitation.

Some of us today either avoid committing ourselves to a task, while others make commitments that they eventually break. Why is it that we can commit to another person, but rarely to ourselves. The problem may be in a lack of confidence.

In order to change your life you must be able to commit to yourself and commit to your projects and goals 100% in body, spirit and mind. If there is any resistance somewhere in your conscious or unconscious thoughts then you will not succeed. Focus on achieving goals that you are passionate about and that you believe are within your capabilities.

Once you decide who you want to be, then commit to yourself. Be yourself, believe in yourself and trust yourself. You must learn to love yourself and accept the fact that you can achieve whatever you put your mind to. What you have to fight against are the negative thoughts that say you cannot achieve anything. The same negative voices are the ones that tell you that you lack skills; that you are out of your league. These voices could be coming from anyone, from family members or even the voice of the national media who promote stereotypes and inhuman perfection.

Your primary battle will be with yourself, however. You may be tempted to give up your mission. You may feel discouraged and want to quit. This is exactly when your commitment comes in. If you are committed to something you do not back down. If you are tempted with infidelity in a relationship, you resist because of the commitment.

Why can’t we have the same commitment towards our goals? If you could learn to love yourself as much as you love a spouse or a child, then you would have far more opportunities to succeed. You would expect more of yourself and trust yourself, thus providing opportunity for higher achievements.

Above all, remember this: there are opportunities everywhere you look. Opportunities always exist in front of you, even though they are sometimes cloaked by obstacles. If you remain committed to yourself, you can look past the obstacles—these superficial and peripheral threats—and see your happy future.

The Power of Negative Thoughts – Five questions you MUST ask yourself!

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

How creative are you when you are thinking negative thoughts?

If you’re like most people, your creativity probably goes out of the window the second you let in negative thought patterns. If you tell yourself what you’re doing is no good, chances are it won’t be. It’s no coincidence that successful people are usually those who adopt an optimistic approach to their lives. No matter what path you intend to follow to succeed, if you start off with a negative approach, you’re already halfway to failure.

Do you see your mistakes as disasters, or lessons you can learn from for the future?

We all take knocks and make mistakes from time to time. But it’s the way we deal with them that shapes the way we move forward. It can be hard to think positively. But we can all do it, however we’re made! Some people are naturally born more optimistic than others – if that’s not you, then try to copy their thinking patterns. What makes an optimist? They turn problems into challenges, and failures into lessons. They avoid negative thoughts at all costs. Train yourself to take a new perspective on life. There are always two ways to look at any given situation – always try to look for the positive angle and your creativity will flourish.

Do you focus on your weaknesses rather than your strengths?

Creative thinking requires positive thinking. Your whole approach to life is different; being positive helps you to find ways to deal with challenges and inspires you to seek opportunities. You will naturally be more resistant to negative thoughts creeping in. Don’t become bogged down with pessimism thinking about your failures; focus on your strengths, and build on them. Try this exercise; write down your seven main strengths, and try to focus using a different strength each day. Research has shown people who do this exercise for one week increase their level of happiness for six months and more!

When you achieve something good is it a fluke? But when something bad happens is it your fault?

Positive minded people are quick to brush off disappointments as ‘one of those things’ and put disasters quickly behind them. Conversely when good things happen, they are not slow to take the credit and congratulate themselves on their achievements. Remember creativity requires positive thinking.

Pessimists however are the opposite. They dwell on bad events and find it difficult to move on. They turn positive happenings into negative ones. It’s hard to be creative when your mind is bogged down with these negative thoughts.

You can put yourself in a new state of mind, and learn to think like an optimist.

Read positive statements. Take a whole new perspective on who you are. Study books on the tricks to positive thinking. If you really want to be creative, you really can improve your skills just by seeing things in a new light.

Is your glass always half-empty?

Not anymore! Work at changing your thought patterns for the better, and banish those negative thoughts forever.

After all, everyone always prefers their glass to be half-full, don’t they?!

Positive Beliefs can Shape Your Future

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Before people embark on any journey in their lives, they often think about where they are going or how they are going to get there. This could be an actual journey where they are traveling from point a to point b, or it could be a journey in their life that they take to achieve a certain goal or task. One of the things that drives these life journeys are beliefs. When you have a strong feeling about something that relates to yourself, you start down a path to achieving your goals. These feelings can be positive or negative, and both have their place on the journey.

Positive beliefs are something that can lead us to take positive actions. When you believe in good things about yourself, you tend to use those good feelings to set goals and to dream about what you hope to achieve in your life. When you have negative feelings, these can often be the road blocks that get in the way of attaining those goals. Having a balance between these thoughts is the key to moving forward in your life.

It is perfectly natural, and even healthy at times, to have negative thoughts about yourself. These negative beliefs can help us improve ourselves at times, and they can also help us accept the fact that we have things to work on. If these negative thoughts start to dominate your mind, however, then things can go down a very negative path that we don’t want to be on. Most people do not give themselves enough credit for all the talents and skills that they have. When negative thoughts creep into your mind, let them in and think about them, but then move them out and continue to work towards your goals.

Success is a word that is thrown around in many different circles. When it comes to setting goals based on your beliefs, it is entirely up to you to define success. Keeping that positive voice in your head very active and involved in your daily routines is the best way to reach your goals and have the type of life that you set out to have.

How to banish negative thoughts – learn the tricks to thinking positively!

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Did you disappoint your parents when you failed your grades? Did they say hurtful things in the heat of the moment that have stayed in your head? Quite often, negative thinking results from messages we received when we were young. Were you bullied at school? Even a friend’s childish throwaway comment can lead to years of negative thinking when these thoughts become stored in your subconscious.

Are you unemployed? Do you have a disability? Are you gay? Prejudice and stigma can have a devastating effect on your confidence. The media are often to blame for self-doubt and feelings of worthlessness. The size zero brigade and perfect images of movie icons and rock stars can leave anyone feeling inadequate.

Once learnt, you may repeat these messages endlessly to yourself until they become beliefs, particularly when life is difficult for one reason or another.

Have you been single for a while and tell yourself it’s because you’re unattractive? ‘No-one likes me.’ ‘I’m stupid.’ ‘I’m a loser.’ The more often you have these negative thoughts, the deeper they become ingrained, and harder to shake off. As soon as you make a mistake, at work, or even if you’re simply cooking dinner, these thoughts are in your mind, and repeated over and over. You may think such things so often, so routinely, that you’re probably not even aware you’re doing it.

So when you’re stressed, or ill or having a hard time at work, you usually find the negative thoughts crowd in and multiply, becoming harder than ever to ignore.

Whatever the reasons for your negative thinking, its time to get tough and take action. You can be in control of your own mind!

TAKE ACTION

Okay, the first thing to do is take a closer look at your negative thought patterns. Be realistic. Start on a good day when the sun is shining and you feel good about yourself; maybe ask a friend you can trust to help you.

Jot down the following questions and be honest with yourself:

Are these negative thoughts true?

Would a decent person normally say these things to someone else? If not, then how come you’re saying them to yourself?

Are there any advantages in thinking these faults? Does it do me any good? If not, why do I keep thinking them?

Ask your friend why they think you may be having these thoughts. Is there any truth in them? You will probably find a close friend who knows you well will be able to look at things in a different light and help you see your life more realistically.

REVERSE THE TREND

It’s not possible to think two thoughts at the same time. So train yourself to think positive thoughts. Memorise repetitive phrases that you can repeat to yourself when negativity threatens to get the better of you. Write something good about yourself on a piece of paper and put it in your pocket. Take it out through the day and read it, and believe it!

Focus on your attributes:

‘I am a decent honest person.’

‘I have friends who care about me.’

‘I have a talent for making people laugh/looking after animals/singing/gardening.’

Use energetic, positive words – happy, caring, loving, warm, adventurous.

Ban negative words from your inner vocabulary! Do not use bored, scared, angry, upset, can’t, worried. Always use the present tense and be positive.

If you are in a situation where you feel unsure or nervous, for example a job interview, don’t tell yourself ‘I haven’t got a chance in hell of getting this job.’ Instead use ‘I am confident and happy, it doesn’t matter if I don’t get this job but I will try my best.’

Be definite and pro-active. Don’t say ‘I am going to try not to worry anymore.’ Say instead ‘I will focus on the positive things in my life.’

WRITE IT DOWN

Try this simple but very effective exercise.

Take a piece of paper and make two columns, one titled ‘Negative Thoughts’, the other ‘Positive Thoughts.’

Write down all the negative thoughts that plague you when you are feeling down, ill or tired. In the next column think of a positive thought that directly contradicts the negative e.g:

NEGATIVE >>> POSITIVE

I’m not clever enough > I am intelligent and intuitive

Everything I do goes wrong > I have achieved many things
successfully

I don’t deserve happiness > I deserve to be happy and healthy

I’m worthless > I’m a special person valued by
lots of people

I hate myself > There are lots of really good
things about me that I can be proud of

BELIEVE IT!

It may take a while, maybe a month or two, to kick your old habits and train yourself to think positively. Don’t give up!

Try repeating your new positive thought patterns over and over when you’re calm and relaxed; in the bath, or just before you fall asleep. Be persistent and repetitive and your new positive way of looking at yourself should become second nature. Soon you will find that you are in control of your own thinking and the negative thoughts will be buried beneath your new way of thinking. And if the worst happens and the old ways come back, repeat these activities as often as you need to.

You are a good person and it’s time to start believing it!

Be happy!

How to get motivated and live your dream

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

As a song once stated that Dreams can come true, how would you feel if you knew that you could turn your dreams into your reality.

In reading this I believe that you want to change your life for the better.

But

How can this be done?

By making the decision to do so, make this day be the first day of the rest of your life and this is done by making the decision and or choice to do so, and that is your first step.

What do you want out of your life?

What have you always dreamt of being, doing or having?

Get yourself a note book and write it down. Think about the above questions and be honest with yourself.

Put aside those negative thoughts of what you have thought about yourself and what other people have told you, because as of now they do not matter.

What makes you happy?

What gets you motivated?

Think about this question because at first it is not an easy question to answer so, be patient with yourself.

Write your answers into your note book and keep your note book in a safe place, where you can look at it regularly.

Put aside what happened yesterday because you can not change what happened yesterday.

Today is the day that you can change and influence so be thankful for today and be glad in your today.

What kind of life would you like to live?

Think of something that would get you up in the mornings, something that would get you motivated.

Visualize it, sit quietly and close your eyes and see the life that you want.

I collect pictures, pictures that I have taken and pictures from magazines and put them in a scrapbook or photo album. I call this my vision book, which I look at often, especially when the day is not going as good as I would like it to go. Eventually you will be able to visualize some of these pictures without physically looking at them. This is great when you can do this. I have done this in meetings and some really boring events. It makes you happy and that is nothing but being in a healthy space no matter where you are.

When collecting your pictures remember that there is no limit to what you want in your life and that you can have what ever you want, so remember this when collecting your pictures and writing your lists.

This is a quote that keeps me motivated “Society Predicts But You Determine Your Future”.

Put this up where you can see it regularly.

Do these simply tips daily and see the magic work in your life.
See yourself getting motivated to live your dream

I would love to know your progress on your journey, please leave me a comment.
