November 28 Kathmandu,: Deputy Prime Minister Bhim Bahadur Rawal has urged the Madhes-centric parties to create environment conducive for talks by making the ongoing Tarai agitation peaceful.
Addressing a programme organised by the Reporters’ Club here today, DPM Rawal stressed that the agitating parties should put forth their demands being responsible towards the country and people. “Change the form of agitation if you accept democracy. Be liberal to the people who are already suffering due to the recent earthquake”, he said.
Stating that there was negative impact on country’s economy as well as people’s daily routine due to continuous banda and border blockade imposed by India, DPM Rawal, also the Minister for Defense, said that internal matters and relations between neighbouring countries should be taken differently. “We want to maintain friendly relations with India. Problem of transport facing the country does not suit the agreement signed between the two countries”,
China and India both should guarantee the rights of landlocked Nepal, he said while adding that the government was committed for the protection of the people as well as its territory and all security bodies would be mobilized as per the new constitution and law if needed.
Clarifying that the government has fulfilled the demands of agitating parties to create environment conducive for talks, the DPM urged to stop violent activities like torching the vehicles carrying medicines, ambulances and obstructing transport.
He said now they would reach to a conclusion keeping the nation, people and democracy in centre, as the problems facing the country should no longer exist. RSS
